Onion prices can be increased in the coming months, as the government has estimated to be slightly lower than the previous year. The aforesaid issued by the Ministry of Agriculture states that the approximate yields of Bagban, Food Grains and Oilseeds have not found the equivalent of strong growth.
According to the old forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture on plant crops, the yield of vegetables is estimated to be about 16.86 crore tonnes, which will be 0.3 per cent lower than last year. The onion production from it is estimated to be around 1.97 crore tonnes, which is 6 per cent lower than last year.
In addition, the onion yield area has also been 10 per cent of the constituents 11.9 lakh hectares this year against the previous year. The authorities say that most fall in the yield area has been found to be seen in the Rabi season. Rabi season harvests come to the market until April-June. This crop is quite important, as it is kept in cold storage and is used until the sowing of Kharif in October-November.
