Agricultural Power Scheme

Brief Description
This is the state plan that has been launched in the year 2010-11.

Objectives of the Scheme
The scheme has been introduced in the country to enhance the activities of agricultural mechanization in the state, thereby acquainting the farmers with the benefits of mechanized agriculture. PowerTiller is also being encouraged under this scheme for the benefit of mechanized agriculture to small farmers.

Component & Grant Pattern
There are two components of the scheme –
1. Establishing of meditative villages – under this, villages with capacity of SC/ST and economically weak farmers are selected normally in the state. The level of agricultural mechanization in these villages is certainly low. These grams are developed as a model gram for agricultural mechanization and are identified in the name of mechanical gram. These villages are attempted to increase the production and productivity of crops through mechanized agriculture. Home activities are land fertility improvement, seed quality improvement, improve sowing methods, adhere to scientific methods, etc.
2. 25 per cent top up grant on PowerTiller- Under this grant of top up of Rs.30,000/- per cent maximum of Rs.30,000/- on behalf of State Government in addition to grants payable under Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM) – Agriculture Mechanization.

Interest & Eligibility
1. Establishing of mechanical villages – such villages are selected where there is a plurality of SC/ST and economically weak farmers, the level of agricultural mechanization is low and especially the existing soil or crop related problems which are possible to be diagnosed through agricultural mechanization.
2. 25 per cent of the top-up grants on PowerTiller – beneficiaries of short and marginal class and sub-mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) – grants on PowerTiller purchasing under Agricultural Mechanization. The topup grant will be payable on the accepted episodes after 1 April 2011.

How to Apply
The application for obtaining grants on power tiller will be submitted to the Deputy Director, Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Office of its district. Topup grants are given only on the cases received under the Central Scheme. To obtain grants under the Central Scheme, the application will be made under the concerned scheme.
