Objective- To upgrade their living standards by giving employment opportunities to people living below poverty line in the cities of the state.
Formation of the Scheme and Workbench- The following programmes are implemented in the scheme.
A. Urban Storozgar Program: Technical assistance is given for the Swarojgar by granting loan-request from banks to implement urban poor in the Swarojgar. The grant of 15 per cent of the cost on the business established in the program or maximum of Rs 7500 is given to the beneficiaries by the regime. Loan of Rs 80 per cent of cost or maximum of Rs 40,000 is made available from commercial banks. The remaining five percent amount is to be self-imposed as margin money.
B. Urban Storozgar Programme (Training) : The skill upgrading of beneficiaries is arranged for setting up a business. For training there is provision of expenditure upto Rs.2000 per beneficiary. This training is a provision for grant of interest to the beneficiary from two to six months or at least 300 hours.
S. Infrastructure Support: Financial assistance is given to the establishment of service centers, training institutions and trainees.
S. Urban Wages Employment Programme: Those who are not able to set up or read business under the Urban Poor Storojgar Program and those who want employment are given employment under this programme. Such employment is given by wages in the construction of public use liquids.
The Development Programme of Women and Children: At least ten urban poor women have the provision of granting a group of 50 per cent of the cost of the business as a maximum of Rs 1,25,000 grant. The five percent amount of interest is to be self-imposed as margin money. The amount of 45 per cent gets as loan from the Commercial Bank.
E. Savings & Credit Groups: To encourage small-six savings, there is provision to set up savings and credit groups for habitual savings in urban poor. On regular savings by saving groups for one year, they have the provision of granting Rs 25,000 once on behalf of the government. Additionally, the grant of Rs.60 on saving Rs.500 in a year by the members of the group is the provision of paying Rs.30 to Rs.750 as the installment of their beme.
Eligible interest- Urban poor living below poverty line.
Beneficial Selection Process- Family living under the poverty line of cities whose names have been included in the survey list of urban poverty.
