Union Cabinet Enhanced Minimum Support Price For Kharif Crops For Marketing Session 2024-25

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved an increase in the minimum support value (MSP) for all the necessary Kharif crops today for the marketing session 2024-25.

The government has increased MSPs of Kharif crops for marketing sessions 2024-25, to ensure the producers a beneficial value for their yield. The most increase in the MSP is carried out for oilseeds and pulses compared to the previous year, such as Nigersid (983 per quintal), followed by sesame (Rs 632 per quintal) and trumpet (Rs 550 per quintal).

Minimum support for all Kharif crops for marketing session 2024-25

This includes the cost, including all the paid costs, such as human labor hired, Bulock Labour/Machine labor, paid for leased land Diesel/electricity, diversified expenses and estimated value of family labor for operation of hire, seed, fertilizer, compost, irrigation fee, equipment and agronomic construction.

Cost data for paddy (Grade A), tide (Maldandy) and cotton (Long Staple) has not been compiled separately.

MSP growth for Kharif crops for marketing session 2024-25 is in line with the announcement of the Union Budget 2018-19, with MSP fixed at a minimum of 1.5 times of the All India weighted average production cost. Farmers are estimated to be the highest in the case of expected margin millet (77 per cent) at their production cost, followed by a place of trumpet (59 per cent), maize (54 per cent) and turquoise (52 per cent). For the rest of the crops, farmers are estimated to have margin 50 percent at their production cost.

In recent years, the government is promoting the cultivation of crops other than cereals such as pulses and oilseeds and nutrient grains/sri-grains by offering high MSPs for these crops.
