New Delhi. PM Modi has given a great sacrifice for farmers in his first cabinet meeting of the second term of the Modi government. Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, all farmers will get Rs 6,000 per annum, besides the pension scheme for farmers has also been allotted.
PM Kisan Yojana was first only for short and marginal farmers. But the BJP promised to include all the farmers in this scheme in its electoral resolution letter, on which the first cabinet was stamped in the meeting. The scheme will get direct benefit to 14.5 crore farmers in the country. Also, the Parliament session has been decided to be called from June 17, which will last till July 26. Budget will be introduced on July 5.
PM Farmers Respect Fund Scheme will now cost 87 thousand crores
The Minister of Agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar, informing the decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting, stated that PM had said that the farmer’s income will try to double in the next 5 years. PM Modi ensured that the crop cost is at least one and a half times minimum support value. Agriculture Minister said PM has reached money in accounts of more than 3 crore farmers under Farmer Respect Fund.
Yet 12.5 crore farmers were covered under this scheme. About 2 crore farmers were exempted. Now all the farmers will be under its scope. The plan costs Rs. 75 thousand crores earlier but now costs Rs. 12 thousand crore. i.e. now Rs 87 thousand crore will be spent annually. While Prime Minister Modi also tweeted that the government has fulfilled its major electoral debates at the first cabinet meeting through these decisions.
Pension Scheme for Farmers and Small Merchants
Apart from this, Pension Scheme has also been allotted for farmers and small traders. It was also promised in BJP’s resolution letter. Under Pension Scheme, people aged 18 to 40 years will get Rs 3 thousand per month after 60 years of age. The scheme is estimated to cost Rs 10 thousand crore. Under the Pension Scheme, the age of 18 years will have to contribute Rs 55 per month.
The Government will also contribute so much. The amount of contribution will increase as per age. Agriculture Minister Tomar said that these schemes will improve the welfare of farmers, small traders and will get social security. He reported that 12 to 13 crore people will be covered under Pension Scheme. The first stage aims to cover 5 crore people.
Prime Minister's Scope of Scholarship Scheme extended
At the same time, it has been decided to increase the scholarship of the children of the martyrs and also provide the children of the martyrs of the state police. The scholarship scheme of the children of the martyrs has increased from Rs.2500 and Rs.3000 to Rs.2500 and Rs.2500 to Rs.3000.
The scope of the Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme, operated under the National Defence Fund has been extended as per the information received. The scholarship will be given to the children of the youth of the states who are martyr in panic and naxley attacks. The annual quota of this scholarship for State Police will be Rs.500.
