The cost of cultivation is increased from expensive compost, seeds and diesel. Wheat farmers are spending more than Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,100 per acre for sowing in the current rabi season.
Haryana’s Gohana Kisan Rajesh Kumar reported that DAP manure has grown to Rs.220 per bag (one bag-50 kg) as compared to the previous year while wheat seed has grown to Rs.80 per bag (one bag-40 kg). In addition, an increase in diesel prices has led to an increase of Rs 100 to 150 compared to the previous year. For wheat sowing, at least five to six times the farm is required.

Estimated growth of 1,100 only in sowing expenses
He pointed out that the cost of irrigation from the diesel pump has also increased from Rs 150 to 200 per acre. Hence, the cost of sowing wheat has exceeded Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,100 per acre as compared to the previous year. He pointed out that diesel sentiments have grown to more than Rs 73 per litre, while the last year was getting Rs 59 per litre of diesel these days.
DAP Manure Rs 220 Expensive
Mukesh Kumar, a manager of the Manure Seed Seller Agrawal Agency of Uttar Pradesh, pointed out that the bag of DAP Manure was Rs 1,400 while in the last Rabi season it was Rs 1,180 per bag. During this time, wheat seed has risen from Rs 1,040 to Rs 1,080 to Rs 1,140 to Rs 1,180 per bag (a bag-40 kg). The urea compost is only Rs 299 per bag, but its weight is reduced from 50 kg to 45 kg.
Total cost on wheat cultivation will increase 25-30 per cent
Surendra Kumar Malik, the village of Mozaffernagar district of Uttar Pradesh, reported that the farm had to be raised four to six times before the sowing of wheat while the diesel prices have grown more than 20 per cent over the year. That’s why the expense of tillage, sowing and irrigation is increased. He told that about four to five times of irrigation after the sowing of wheat, there have also increased the dam of pesticides. The cost of harvesting, threshing, and carrying mandi will also be increased in diesel prices, so the total cost on wheat harvest in the current rabi will be higher than 25 to 30 per acre from the previous year.
Minimal increases in support value
He pointed out that the support value has been increased marginally against the total cost of wheat farming. The Central Government has set up only Rs 105 per quintal in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Wheat for Rabi Marketing Season 2018-19.
