Agriculture Scientist MS Swaminathan will receive the first World Agriculture Award established by Indian Food and Agriculture Council (ICFA) in New Delhi on Friday.
The award will be presented by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in the Science Building in a special session called Swaminaton Global Dialogue on Climate Change and Food Safety organized by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture.
Recognized worldwide for their original and practical research in genetics, cytogenetics, radiation and chemical mutation, food and biodiversity conservation, Prof. Swaminathan has been awarded the UN Environment Programme as the Father of Economic Ecology because of his commitment to agriculture
Green Revolution Movement.
The award has been established by ICFA with an aim to recognize individuals serving humanity through agriculture. in it $ 1,00,000 (Third lakh sixty thousand six hundred ten rupee) The cash component will be. This will be an annual award and will be presented to any individual or entity critically from Asian, African or Latin American countries, which has played a fundamental role in protecting humanity from the curse of hunger and saving humanity.
