22 States including Delhi, West Bengal and Maharashtra have removed checkpoints (Check Post) within three days of the Commodity and Service Tax (GST) arrangement. The Ministry of Finance said that eight other states including some states of Assam, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Northeast are also in the process of removing the cheque post.
State border checks tax compliance with goods and destinations. This leads to delay in supplying goods, as well as environmental pollution increases due to truck queues. GST has been implemented from July 1 which aims to create a single market to the country where the movement of goods and services can be without interruption.
Other major states that have finished investigation checkpoints include UP, Bihar, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. After the scrutiny has been finished, the long queues of trucks will no longer be seen on the borders of the states.
