Reduced tax rate of agricultural inputs a few hours before GST is applicable

Relieve farmers found on the initiative of Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanu

Chandigarh, 01 July : A few hours before the GST law has been implemented, the government has lowered the tax rate on certain products affecting past day agriculture. The rate of GST on fertilizers has been reduced from 12% to 5%. They have been reduced from 28% tax slab to 18%, also exempting tractor parts.

The rate of tax in states on fertilizers before GST is between zero to six percent. After the GST has been implemented from one July, it will now apply a rate of 5 per cent. If there is a rate of 12% already declared, the price of a bag of urea, dye ammonium phosphate (DAP) and 50 kg of potash in states like Punjab, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh increases from Rs 30 to 120.

The 18th meeting of the GST Council is reported that the cases associated with farmers were not included in the agenda. Haryana’s Finance Minister Captain Abhimanu laid out his issue by becoming a voice of farmers. While accepting the appeal of arrogance, the Council reduced the rate of GST on compost and fertilizers by 12 to five percent.

Captain Abhimanyu said that the rate of GST is higher on compost, fertilizer and tractor parts used by farmers. More rates will work for the farmer’s waistline. He said that it is good to pay tax at higher rate than the farmer to keep its rate lower.
