Firms earned Rs 15,795 crore in 2 years of crop insurance scheme

According to an answer received under the Right to Information Act, insurance companies across the country earned Rs 15,795 crore as a benefit from Prime Minister Fasal Insurance Scheme (PMFBY) in two years.
While the income continues to wait for farmers for growth, the benefits of insurance companies in just one year of the introduction of PMFBY has increased by two times.

Similarly, these firms distributed claims worth Rs 15,710.25 crore against a premium of Rs 25,045.87 crore to 1,26,01,048 farmers. In response to RTI, however, the approved insurance claims worth Rs 512 crore are yet to be paid, while the majority of the claims of the Rabi crop is not estimated/approved.
